Are we the place you are looking for?
Rest in the tranquil energy of this beautiful spot and enjoy the spacious sky, glistening sea, lapping waves, jungle green and tinkling river resonating a deep peace. For those seeking a lively ambiance and night-life, Tioman will disappoint. Juara, on the other side of the island, has the longest sandy beach.
Nestled on a hill between tropical rainforest and reef paradise, our rustic, traditional cabins have panoramic sea views. Created by British-born Sue and Islander husband Zul (deceased) Bamboo Hill has been family run since 1991 – a marriage of the spirit of Asia with the standards of Europe. Our rooms are well maintained and naturally ventilated by ceiling fans wafting the sea breeze through floor-to-ceiling, louvered windows (meshed against mosquitoes and bugs). None of the chalets have air-conditioning. We prefer to be one with nature, not cut-off from it; you can even lie in bed and see the sea. Thoughtful details and personal attention make Bamboo Hill a home from home.
Aware of and responsible for the natural environment
To help reduce negative effects of human activities on the pristine environment of this gem of an island, we have gained Green Hotel status and are part of a local initiative to avoid single use plastic. Each cabin has 4 refillable water bottles and free, purified spring water is available from the reception.
Getting to and from the island is a tiring day’s journey. We don’t accept stays of less than 3 nights which give two full days on the island The heart of Bamboo Hill is tranquility so we don’t accept bookings for groups. Until the future becomes more predictable bookings can be made without a deposit or prepayment.
